we've seen it
from the inside
kantency is built on a simple belief:
The most expensive problems in any organization are rarely about a lack of good people.ย
they're about lack of clarity.
Before founding Kantency, my career was forged in the middle of broken processes. I know what it feels like to be a dedicated employee watching a good team get demoralized by top-down changes that just don’t make sense on the ground.
the story that started it all
For three years, I worked in a small-town Alberta insurance brokerage. It was a place built on personal relationships, where clients trusted their specific broker to handle everything from start to finish.
Then, with the best of intentions, new management arrived with big ideas from city conferences. They wanted to modernize and “keep up with the big dogs.” They split the behind-the-scenes tasks of our roles,ย implemented new technology that didn’t fit our workflow, and tried to change how we talked to our clients.
the result was chaos...
I was the “middleman” caught in the crossfire. I’d hear from frustrated clients who no longer knew who their broker was. I’d sit with a demoralized team tangled in a game of “broken telephone,” where information was constantly misplaced, missing or missed. I watched as leaders, trying to fix the symptoms, pushed harder on solutions that only made the root problem worse.
I realized then that the problem wasn’t a lack of good intentions or a lack of hard work.
The problem was that no one was taking a step back to map the reality of the situation before trying to change it.
Seeing the Same Problem Everywhere
It turns out, this problem wasn’t unique to one small brokerage.
it's a universal pattern
Whether I was creating training manuals for a high-stakes claims department in New Zealand, streamlining systems for a community rec centre, or automating finances for a non-profit, I saw the same story: well-intentioned leaders trying to fix symptoms, while the real root cause of the chaos went untouched.
In every role, my natural skill set emerged: I was the person who could adapt, see the patterns, and build the simple, user-friendly processes that brought clarity to the complexity.
building
the service I wish we had
Thatโs why I founded Kantency Consulting. I combined my Strategic Management degree with these years of hands-on, in-the-trenches experience to provide the service I wish my former managers had:ย
a clear, impartial, and straightforward diagnosis before a single dollar is spent on a new solution.
Our processย is the culmination of this journey. It’s designed to get you and your team out of the maze of constant firefighting and back toย the top-down view of the puzzle, so you can solve the right problem, the right way, the first time.
When I'm not mapping processes...
I’m a four-generation small-town Albertan at heart, which means I value straightforward conversations and practical solutions. My perspective has been shaped by living and working around the world, from New Zealand to Southeast Asia, where I learned that the fundamental challenges of communication and process are universal. I believe in helping good people do their best work, and I bring that belief to every client I partner with.
